Old English traditional style shutters
For a more traditional old English style of shutter, then solid shutters achieve that perfect look. Solid shutters are made from solid hardwood panels that are not louvred. Still seen in period properties, solid shutters fold back from the window to sit flush against the wall.
They are an incredible look for Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian era properties, where the solid panels follow the architectural lines of their grand, sash windows to retain the traditional feel. Unlike the old traditional style of these homes, where the panels would fold back into recessed shutter boxes; modern day solid shutter panels will fold back neatly against the wall.
Solid shutters achieve a near blackout effect and provide the most warmth and sound insulation, making them perfect for bedrooms. However, they do limit the ability to offer privacy and light control without the functionality of louvres. Yet, when opened, solid shutters give you the beauty of flooding a room with natural light.

These options are great for full length windows where a solid panel at the bottom of the window can add that extra level of privacy, insulation and hardy protection from pets and children.
